Job Overview
This role is ideal for a highly skilled Mineral Processing Engineer to optimize extraction processes and ensure operational efficiency at Barrick Gold’s Mbale site. The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to large-scale mining projects while advancing technical expertise in mineral processing technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement mineral processing workflows to maximize gold recovery rates.
- Conduct regular audits of processing equipment and systems to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Collaborate with geologists and mining teams to analyze ore composition and adjust processing techniques accordingly.
- Monitor and report on operational performance metrics, including throughput, energy consumption, and waste management.
- Lead training sessions for junior engineers and technicians on advanced processing methodologies.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in mineral processing for gold extraction projects.
- Proficiency in using mineral processing software (e.g., HSC Chemistry, JKSimMet).
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting metallurgical data and optimizing processes.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions or inefficiencies.
- Knowledge of Ugandan mining regulations and international safety protocols.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or a related field. A Master’s Degree in Mineral Processing or Metallurgical Engineering is a strong advantage.
Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years in mineral processing roles within the mining industry, preferably in East Africa. Experience with gold extraction projects is essential.
Salary
4,000,000 – 6,000,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and performance.
