Job Overview
This role focuses on designing innovative urban mobility solutions for Arua City’s rapid urbanization challenges. The position requires expertise in transportation modeling, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable development frameworks. Candidates will work directly with municipal authorities, community leaders, and international donors to implement mobility projects aligned with Uganda’s National Urban Policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive urban mobility master plans incorporating public transit, cycling infrastructure, and pedestrian pathways
- Conduct traffic flow analysis and congestion mitigation studies using GIS and transportation modeling software
- Collaborate with local governments to design inclusive mobility solutions for underserved communities
- Prepare technical reports and feasibility studies for urban mobility projects
- Coordinate with urban planners, civil engineers, and environmental specialists on cross-disciplinary projects
Required Skills
- Proficiency in transportation planning software (e.g., PTV Visum, TransCAD)
- Experience with GIS mapping and spatial analysis
- Strong analytical skills for traffic data interpretation
- Excellent stakeholder communication and negotiation abilities
- Knowledge of Ugandan urban development regulations and standards
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Engineering, or Environmental Planning
- Master’s Degree preferred but not required
Experience
- 3-5 years in urban mobility planning or related field
- Previous experience in East African urban development projects
- Project management experience with municipal infrastructure projects
Salary
4,000,000 – 6,000,000 SSP per month, depending on experience and qualifications
