Job Overview

The Retail Store Operations Analyst will be responsible for transforming store performance data into actionable insights that enhance efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction. Working closely with store managers, supply chain partners, and the corporate analytics team, the analyst will monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), identify trends, and recommend process improvements. This role is pivotal in supporting Shoprite’s data‑driven culture and ensuring that the Gulu store meets its sales targets, inventory accuracy, and service standards. The analyst will also collaborate on cross‑functional projects, such as promotional planning, workforce scheduling, and loss prevention, thereby playing a central part in the store’s overall success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, and analyze daily sales, inventory, and foot‑traffic data from the Gulu store.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards that track KPIs such as sales per square meter, stock‑out rates, and labor productivity.
  • Provide weekly and monthly performance reports to store management and regional leadership.
  • Identify root causes of performance gaps and propose data‑backed solutions.
  • Support the planning and evaluation of promotional campaigns, ensuring accurate forecasting and post‑event analysis.
  • Collaborate with the supply chain team to optimize replenishment cycles and reduce waste.
  • Assist in loss prevention initiatives by analyzing shrinkage patterns and recommending controls.
  • Participate in cross‑departmental projects aimed at improving the overall customer journey.
  • Stay updated on retail industry trends in Uganda and incorporate best practices into analytical frameworks.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.
  • Strong quantitative and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting insights to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in data handling.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced retail environment.
  • Knowledge of retail metrics and store operations is highly desirable.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, Economics, Statistics, or a related discipline is required. Candidates with additional certifications in data analytics or business intelligence will be given preference.

Experience

Applicants should have 3–5 years of experience in retail operations, store analytics, or a comparable role. Experience with large‑scale retail chains, especially in East Africa, will be considered an advantage.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 4,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses are also part of the total rewards structure.
