Job Overview

The Aviation Safety Analyst will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and improving safety performance across all flight operations, ground handling, and maintenance activities. Reporting directly to the Head of Safety and Compliance, the analyst will conduct risk assessments, audit processes, and develop safety management systems that align with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that Uganda Airlines maintains a culture of safety, thereby protecting passengers, crew, and assets while supporting the airline’s growth objectives. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular safety audits of flight operations, maintenance, and ground handling to identify hazards and non‑compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with ICAO Annex 19.
  • Analyze safety data, incident reports, and trend analyses to recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with pilots, engineers, and regulatory authorities to ensure adherence to national and international safety regulations.
  • Prepare safety performance reports for senior management and external regulators.
  • Lead safety investigations, root‑cause analyses, and produce comprehensive investigation reports.
  • Facilitate safety training sessions and workshops for staff at all levels.
  • Monitor implementation of safety recommendations and track effectiveness.
  • Support the development of emergency response plans and crisis management protocols.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging safety technologies.

Required Skills

Education

The successful candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Aeronautical Engineering, Safety Management, or a closely related field. Advanced certifications such as Certified Safety Management System Auditor (CSMSA) or equivalent are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

A minimum of three to five years of relevant experience in aviation safety, regulatory compliance, or safety analysis is required. Prior experience within an airline, airport authority, or aviation regulatory body will be viewed favorably. Candidates with a proven track record of conducting safety audits, investigations, and implementing safety management systems are preferred.

Salary
