Job Overview

The FinTech Compliance Analyst will join the Compliance & Risk Management department to ensure that Mastercard Uganda’s fintech products and services adhere to local regulations, international standards, and internal policies. Reporting to the Head of Compliance, the analyst will conduct risk assessments, monitor regulatory changes, and develop compliance frameworks for emerging technologies such as digital wallets, contactless payments, and blockchain‑based solutions. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive compliance risk assessments for new fintech products and enhancements.
  • Monitor and interpret Ugandan financial regulations, Central Bank directives, and international standards such as PCI DSS and GDPR.
  • Develop, update, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and control frameworks specific to digital payments and emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to embed compliance requirements early in the design lifecycle.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory filings, reports, and audit documentation to the Bank of Uganda and other relevant authorities.
  • Lead internal compliance training sessions and awareness campaigns for cross‑functional teams.
  • Investigate and resolve compliance incidents, providing root‑cause analysis and remediation plans.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Ugandan financial regulations, anti‑money laundering (AML) and combating the financing of terrorism (CFT) frameworks.
  • Experience with fintech products such as mobile money, digital wallets, and blockchain‑based services.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting complex regulatory concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in compliance management tools and data analytics platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast‑paced environment.

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Anti‑Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or equivalent are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Candidates should possess at least three to five years of hands‑on experience in compliance, risk management, or regulatory affairs within the financial services or fintech sector. Prior exposure to payment processing, digital banking, or mobile money ecosystems in Uganda or other emerging markets will be viewed favorably. Experience working with cross‑functional product teams and external regulators is essential.

Salary

Mastercard Uganda offers a competitive compensation package ranging from SSP 3,000,000 to SSP 5,000,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
