Job Overview
The Renewable Energy Storage Systems Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of battery storage projects that enhance grid reliability and support renewable integration across Uganda. This role involves close collaboration with project managers, grid operators, and technology partners to deliver scalable, cost‑effective storage solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering design of utility‑scale battery storage systems, including selection of chemistries, sizing, and integration with existing grid infrastructure.
- Develop detailed technical specifications, schematics, and performance models to ensure compliance with local regulations and international standards.
- Coordinate with procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
- Perform system simulations and conduct feasibility studies to evaluate economic and technical viability of storage solutions.
- Provide technical support during installation, testing, and commissioning phases, troubleshooting issues and ensuring optimal performance.
- Collaborate with research institutions and government agencies to align projects with national energy policies and sustainability goals.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and documentation for stakeholders, including investors, regulators, and community leaders.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, market trends, and best practices in energy storage to drive continuous innovation.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of battery technologies (Li‑ion, flow, lead‑acid) and power electronics.
- Proficiency in simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSS®E, or HOMER.
- Experience with grid integration studies, load forecasting, and renewable energy systems.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and analytical thinking.
- Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
- Project management experience with ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Familiarity with Ugandan energy regulations and standards is an advantage.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a closely related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CEM) are highly desirable and demonstrate a commitment to advanced expertise.
Experience
Candidates must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in energy storage system design, grid integration, or related power engineering roles. Prior experience in emerging markets or African energy projects will be considered a strong asset.
Salary
