Job Overview

The Cold Chain Logistics Manager will lead the planning, execution, and optimization of temperature‑sensitive shipments across the West Nile region. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for ensuring that perishable goods—such as pharmaceuticals, fresh produce, and dairy products—are handled, stored, and transported in compliance with international standards and local regulations. This position plays a critical role in safeguarding product integrity, reducing waste, and enhancing customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement cold chain strategies that align with DHL’s global standards and local market needs.
• Coordinate with sales, customer service, and warehouse teams to schedule temperature‑controlled shipments.
• Monitor real‑time temperature data using IoT sensors and ensure compliance with SOPs.
• Manage relationships with third‑party carriers, ensuring they meet DHL’s cold chain requirements.
• Conduct regular audits of refrigerated trucks, warehouses, and handling equipment.
• Analyze performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements to reduce spoilage and transit times.
• Prepare and present reports on cold chain performance to senior management.
• Ensure all activities comply with local health regulations and international standards such as WHO and IATA.
• Lead incident investigations related to temperature excursions and implement corrective actions.
• Mentor and train staff on best practices for handling temperature‑sensitive cargo.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of cold chain logistics, temperature monitoring technologies, and regulatory requirements.

Education

Experience

Candidates must have at least five years of experience in logistics management, with a minimum of two years focused on cold chain operations. Experience in the Ugandan market or East African region is highly preferred.
