Job Overview
IUCN Uganda is seeking a dynamic Environmental Education Program Coordinator to lead the design and implementation of community-focused environmental education initiatives in Kibuku. This role will collaborate with schools, local leaders, and NGOs to foster environmental stewardship and climate resilience. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing Uganda Jobs in the environmental sector while contributing to global sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver environmental education curricula tailored to local communities and schools.
- Coordinate workshops, training sessions, and outreach programs on topics like biodiversity conservation, climate change, and sustainable agriculture.
- Partner with local stakeholders to identify educational needs and co-create impactful programs.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness through data collection and reporting.
- Secure funding through grant proposals and partnerships with international donors.
- Ensure alignment with IUCN’s global environmental education standards and Ugandan national policies.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in environmental education program design and management.
- Strong project management and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Proficiency in community engagement and stakeholder relationship building.
- Excellent data analysis and report-writing abilities.
- Fluency in English and local languages (Luganda, Runyankole preferred).
- Knowledge of Ugandan environmental regulations and community development frameworks.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Education, or related field.
- Master’s Degree in Environmental Education or Public Policy preferred.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in environmental education, community development, or related fields.
- Previous work in rural Ugandan communities is a strong advantage.
Salary
2,200,000 – 3,500,000 SSP annually, depending on experience.
