Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Conservation Specialist to join our team in Soroti, Uganda. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing conservation projects in the region, working closely with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental conservation, with experience in project management, community engagement, and stakeholder coordination. They will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The position will be based in Soroti, with regular travel to project sites in the region. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of flexibility and adaptability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement conservation projects in the region, in collaboration with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Conduct field assessments and monitoring to identify conservation opportunities and threats.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure effective project implementation.
- Manage project budgets and resources, ensuring effective use of funds and resources.
- Collaborate with other conservation organizations and stakeholders to leverage resources and expertise.
Required Skills
- Master’s degree in Environmental Conservation or related field.
- 8-12 years of experience in environmental conservation, with a focus on project management, community engagement, and stakeholder coordination.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of flexibility and adaptability.
Education
The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Environmental Conservation or a related field. They will also have a strong background in project management, community engagement, and stakeholder coordination.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have 8-12 years of experience in environmental conservation, with a focus on project management, community engagement, and stakeholder coordination. They will have a strong track record of developing and implementing conservation projects, with a focus on community-led conservation and sustainable livelihoods.
Salary
The salary for this position will be 5,000,000 – 8,000,000 SSP per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
