Job Overview

The Renewable Energy Project Finance Analyst will play a pivotal role in structuring, evaluating, and monitoring the financial aspects of Shell’s renewable energy projects across Uganda. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the analyst will collaborate with project engineers, legal teams, and external investors to ensure that each project meets its financial targets while adhering to regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed financial models for solar, wind, and hybrid projects, incorporating capital expenditures, operating costs, revenue streams, and tax incentives.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and sensitivity analyses to assess project viability under various market scenarios.
  • Prepare investment memoranda, pitch decks, and risk assessments for internal stakeholders and external financiers.
  • Coordinate with the legal department to structure financing agreements, loan covenants, and equity arrangements.
  • Monitor project cash flows, budget variances, and key performance indicators throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Liaise with government agencies, multilateral development banks, and private investors to secure funding and ensure compliance with Uganda’s regulatory framework.
  • Support the preparation of quarterly and annual financial reports for senior management.
  • Stay updated on market trends, policy changes, and emerging financing mechanisms in the renewable energy sector.

Required Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling tools such as Excel, VBA, and Power BI.
  • Strong understanding of project finance structures, debt‑equity ratios, and risk mitigation techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting complex financial concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in financial software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross‑functional teams and manage multiple priorities.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree (MBA, MSc Finance) or professional certification such as CFA or CPA is highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience
