Job Overview

The Mining Operations Safety Supervisor will lead the safety function across all active mining sites, ensuring compliance with national regulations, international best practices, and company policies. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve the Mine Safety Management System in alignment with Ugandan mining regulations and international standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments to proactively mitigate potential safety issues.
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans to prevent recurrence of accidents.
• Provide safety training, toolbox talks, and competency assessments for all mine personnel, ensuring that safety knowledge is up‑to‑date.
• Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation for internal review and external regulatory submissions.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to integrate safety considerations into equipment design, maintenance schedules, and operational procedures.
• Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce compliance across all work areas.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for occupational health and safety audits conducted by government agencies and third‑party auditors.
• Promote a safety‑first culture through continuous communication, employee engagement, and recognition programs.

Required Skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Ugandan mining safety legislation, ISO 45001, and industry best practices.

Education

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five to seven years of progressive experience in safety supervision within the mining or heavy‑industry sector. Demonstrated experience in conducting safety audits, incident investigations, and leading safety training programs is essential. Experience working in Uganda or similar emerging market environments will be advantageous.
