Job Overview

The Sustainability Assurance Analyst will join KPMG Uganda’s Audit & Assurance team, focusing on delivering high‑quality ESG assurance engagements for clients across various sectors, including agriculture, energy, manufacturing, and financial services. The role involves conducting sustainability audits, evaluating ESG data, and providing actionable insights that help clients improve their sustainability performance and meet regulatory requirements. The analyst will work closely with senior assurance partners, industry specialists, and client stakeholders to ensure that assurance reports are accurate, transparent, and aligned with international standards such as the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and document ESG assurance engagements in accordance with international standards.
  • Collect, validate, and analyze sustainability data from client systems, ensuring data integrity and completeness.
  • Assess client ESG controls, risk management processes, and reporting frameworks.
  • Prepare detailed assurance reports, including findings, recommendations, and management letters.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate ESG considerations into broader audit engagements.
  • Stay updated on emerging ESG regulations, standards, and industry trends in Uganda and the region.
  • Support business development activities by contributing to proposals, presentations, and thought‑leadership content on sustainability assurance.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret complex ESG data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting findings to senior client executives.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.
  • Knowledge of ESG frameworks (GRI, SASB, ISSB) and sustainability reporting standards.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to high‑quality deliverables.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast‑paced environment.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, or ESG‑specific credentials (e.g., SASB Fundamentals) are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

The ideal candidate will have 3‑5 years of experience in sustainability reporting, ESG assurance, internal audit, or related advisory services. Experience working with multinational clients or within a Big‑Four professional services environment is preferred, but not mandatory. Demonstrated experience in data collection, verification, and analysis for ESG metrics is essential.

Salary
