Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Impact Assessment Specialist to join our team in Mbarara, Uganda. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting environmental impact assessments, developing mitigation measures, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental science, experience in conducting environmental impact assessments, and excellent communication and project management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental impact assessments for proposed projects, including infrastructure development, mining, and agriculture
- Develop and implement mitigation measures to minimize environmental impacts
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and laws
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and project developers
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
- Provide technical support to project teams
Required Skills
- Master’s degree in Environmental Science or related field
- 8-12 years of experience in environmental impact assessment and management
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GIS software
Education
The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Environmental Science or a related field. A Ph.D. in Environmental Science or a related field will be an added advantage.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have 8-12 years of experience in environmental impact assessment and management. Experience in conducting environmental impact assessments for infrastructure development, mining, and agriculture will be an added advantage.
Salary
The salary for this position will be 2,500,000 – 3,500,000 SSP per annum, depending on experience.
