Job Overview
The Network Optimization Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and fine‑tuning network solutions to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and scalability of Liquid Telecom’s services in Uganda. Working closely with cross‑functional teams, the engineer will analyze traffic patterns, identify bottlenecks, and develop strategies to improve latency, throughput, and overall user experience. This position is central to the company’s mission of delivering world‑class connectivity and supports the broader goal of creating sustainable Career Opportunities in Uganda.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze network performance metrics across fiber, microwave, and satellite links.
- Develop and implement optimization strategies to reduce latency and packet loss.
- Collaborate with the planning team to design capacity upgrades and route diversification.
- Conduct root‑cause analysis of network incidents and propose preventive measures.
- Maintain documentation of network configurations, optimization projects, and performance reports.
- Provide technical guidance to field engineers and support teams during deployment and maintenance activities.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of IP networking, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, and QoS.
- Proficiency with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, or NetScout.
- Experience with traffic engineering, load balancing, and capacity planning.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills for cross‑team collaboration.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent are advantageous.
Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in network optimization, performance analysis, or telecom engineering within a carrier or large‑scale ISP environment.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 3,500,000 to SSP 5,500,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be offered.
