Job Overview
The Renewable Energy Financial Analyst will support Shell Uganda’s renewable portfolio by delivering insightful financial analysis, modeling, and reporting. The role involves evaluating project economics, assessing risk, and providing recommendations that drive investment decisions and optimize financial performance. Working closely with the Project Development, Commercial, and Operations teams, the analyst will ensure that financial data aligns with strategic objectives and regulatory requirements. This position offers a challenging yet rewarding opportunity to influence the financial direction of renewable initiatives, contributing directly to Uganda’s energy transition and the company’s growth objectives. The analyst will also play a pivotal role in preparing business cases, monitoring budgets, and supporting stakeholder communications, making this a central function in the organization’s renewable energy journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed financial models for solar, wind, and hybrid renewable projects.
- Conduct cost‑benefit analysis, sensitivity testing, and scenario planning to support investment decisions.
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior management and external partners.
- Collaborate with Project Development teams to assess project feasibility, capital requirements, and cash flow projections.
- Monitor project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure alignment with approved financial plans.
- Analyze market trends, policy changes, and regulatory impacts on renewable energy economics in Uganda.
- Support the preparation of financing proposals, loan applications, and stakeholder negotiations.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and corporate governance standards.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling using Excel or specialized software.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder reporting.
- Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and market dynamics in East Africa.
- Familiarity with Ugandan tax, regulatory, and financing frameworks for energy projects.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CFA, CPA, or relevant energy finance qualifications are advantageous but not mandatory.
Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of experience in financial analysis, investment appraisal, or corporate finance, with a preference for exposure to renewable energy projects or the broader energy sector.
Salary
The role offers a competitive salary range of SSP 3,000,000 to SSP 5,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, along with performance‑based incentives.
