Job Overview

The Crop Protection Sales Engineer will serve as the technical and commercial bridge between Bayer’s product portfolio and the farming community in Rukungiri. This role involves promoting Bayer’s crop protection products, providing agronomic advice, and delivering tailored solutions that address local pest and disease challenges. The incumbent will work closely with the regional sales team, agronomists, and distributors to drive market penetration, increase product adoption, and support Bayer’s mission of sustainable agriculture. Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and engage with key growers, cooperatives, and agribusinesses to present Bayer’s crop protection portfolio.
  • Conduct field demonstrations, product trials, and technical workshops to showcase product efficacy.
  • Provide on‑site agronomic consulting, including pest identification, scouting, and integrated pest management recommendations.
  • Develop and execute territory sales plans aligned with regional targets and market dynamics.
  • Collect market intelligence, competitor activity, and farmer feedback to inform product development and marketing strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, forecasts, and customer interactions in Bayer’s CRM system.
  • Collaborate with the supply chain team to ensure timely product availability and delivery.
  • Represent Bayer at agricultural fairs, farmer field schools, and community events across Rukungiri and neighboring districts.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of crop protection products, pest biology, and integrated pest management practices.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of translating technical concepts into practical advice.
  • Proven sales track record in agribusiness or related sectors.
  • Ability to build and maintain long‑term relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Self‑motivated, results‑driven, and comfortable working independently in rural environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with CRM tools.
  • Fluency in English and proficiency in local languages such as Runyankole.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Sciences, Agronomy, Plant Protection, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications or training in crop protection, pest management, or sales techniques are advantageous.

Experience

Applicants should have 3‑5 years of experience in agricultural sales, agronomy consulting, or a related field, preferably within Uganda or the East African region. Experience with smallholder farmer engagement and field demonstrations is highly valued.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from UGX 2,500,000 to UGX 4,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience and performance. The package includes performance‑based incentives, a vehicle allowance, and a comprehensive benefits suite.
