Job Overview
The Process Improvement Manager will lead strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize production workflows at BASF’s Fort Portal manufacturing plant. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will work closely with cross‑functional teams, including engineering, quality, supply chain, and health & safety, to identify bottlenecks and implement lean methodologies. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze current manufacturing processes using value‑stream mapping, Six Sigma, and lean tools to identify improvement opportunities.
- Develop and execute detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Lead cross‑functional Kaizen events and continuous improvement workshops to foster a culture of operational excellence.
- Collaborate with engineering and R&D teams to integrate new technologies and process innovations into existing production lines.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), cycle time, and defect rates, providing regular reports to senior management.
- Ensure all improvement initiatives comply with BASF’s safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Mentor and coach plant personnel on lean principles, encouraging employee‑driven problem solving.
- Prepare business cases and cost‑benefit analyses to justify investment in process upgrades.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven mindset.
- Proficiency in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher preferred), and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and stakeholder communication.
- Effective interpersonal and leadership skills to influence teams across multiple functions.
- Advanced knowledge of manufacturing software tools such as SAP, Minitab, or similar.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, process flow diagrams, and SOPs.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in local languages is an advantage.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, or Project Management (e.g., PMP) are highly desirable.
Experience
Applicants must have at least five years of hands‑on experience in process improvement within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the chemicals or related industrial sector. Demonstrated success in leading large‑scale improvement projects and delivering quantifiable results is essential.
Salary
The competitive salary range for this role is SSP 4,000,000 to SSP 6,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are also part of the compensation package.
