Job Overview

The Cybersecurity Incident Response Manager will lead Cisco Systems Uganda’s incident response team, overseeing the detection, analysis, containment, and remediation of cyber threats targeting clients and internal systems. This senior position requires strategic thinking, hands‑on technical expertise, and the ability to coordinate cross‑functional efforts with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders. The manager will develop and refine incident response playbooks, ensure compliance with local regulations, and drive continuous improvement through threat intelligence sharing. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the end‑to‑end incident response lifecycle for security events affecting Cisco clients and internal infrastructure.
• Develop, maintain, and regularly update incident response playbooks, standard operating procedures, and escalation matrices.
• Conduct forensic analysis, malware reverse engineering, and root‑cause investigations to identify attack vectors and mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with Cisco’s global security operations center (SOC) and local partners to share threat intelligence and best practices.
• Provide real‑time guidance and technical support to customers during active security incidents.
• Prepare detailed incident reports, post‑mortem analyses, and executive briefings for senior management.
• Ensure compliance with Ugandan data protection regulations and industry standards such as ISO 27001 and NIST.
• Mentor and train junior analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

Required Skills

• Deep expertise in incident handling, digital forensics, and malware analysis.
• Proficiency with security tools such as SIEM platforms, EDR solutions, and network traffic analyzers.
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols, operating systems, and cloud security architectures.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritize multiple incidents, and make decisive decisions.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GCIH, or equivalent are highly desirable.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized certifications will be considered an advantage and reflect a commitment to professional development.

Experience

Candidates must possess a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in cybersecurity incident response, threat hunting, or digital forensics. Prior experience leading a security team, managing large‑scale incidents, and working with enterprise‑level clients is essential.
