Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Agricultural Extension Officer to join our field operations team in Kanoni. This role is critical to our success in the region, as you will serve as the primary link between Yara’s advanced agricultural technologies and the local farming community. The successful candidate will be responsible for demonstrating the benefits of specialized crop nutrition, training farmers on modern agronomic practices, and collecting vital field data to inform our regional strategy. This is a dynamic role that requires a blend of technical expertise, community engagement, and a passion for sustainable food security. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field demonstrations to showcase the efficacy of Yara fertilizer products on various local crops.
  • Organize and lead training workshops for smallholder farmers on soil health and nutrient management.
  • Provide technical advisory services to farmers to help them optimize crop yields and quality.
  • Monitor and report on crop performance and soil conditions within the assigned territory.
  • Collaborate with local cooperatives and community leaders to build trust and expand program reach.
  • Collect and analyze field data to provide feedback to the regional research and development team.

Required Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of soil science and plant nutrition requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for community engagement.
  • Ability to translate complex scientific concepts into practical farming advice.
  • Strong data collection and reporting capabilities using mobile digital tools.
  • Proficiency in local languages spoken in the Kanoni region is highly preferred.

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science, or a closely related field from a recognized institution is mandatory.

Experience

Candidates must possess at least 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in agricultural extension services, preferably working with international agribusinesses or NGOs in rural settings.

Salary

The monthly gross salary for this position ranges from 2,500,000 SSP to 4,500,000 SSP, depending on experience and qualifications.
