Job Overview

The Agricultural Finance Officer will be responsible for originating, evaluating, and managing a portfolio of agricultural loan products. Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and acquire new agricultural loan customers through field visits, referrals, and partnership networks.
  • Conduct comprehensive credit assessments, including financial statement analysis, cash‑flow projections, and collateral valuation specific to agricultural assets.
  • Prepare detailed loan proposals and present recommendations to the Credit Committee for approval.
  • Monitor loan disbursements, ensuring compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform regular portfolio reviews, field inspections, and risk monitoring to mitigate default risk.
  • Provide financial advisory services to borrowers, including budgeting, farm management best practices, and market linkage guidance.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to design innovative agricultural financing solutions, such as seasonal loans, value‑chain financing, and digital loan platforms.
  • Maintain accurate records in the bank’s loan management system and generate periodic performance reports for senior management.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in financial modeling and risk assessment.
  • In‑depth understanding of Uganda’s agricultural value chains, seasonal cycles, and market dynamics.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for interacting with diverse farmer groups and agribusiness stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, and familiarity with banking software platforms.
  • Ability to work independently in field environments and travel to rural locations as required.
  • High ethical standards and commitment to responsible lending practices.

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Agriculture, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CFA, CPA, or a recognized agricultural finance qualification are advantageous.

Experience

Applicants should possess at least three to five years of experience in agricultural lending, credit analysis, or financial services within the agricultural sector. Experience with rural outreach programs, micro‑finance, or agribusiness consulting will be considered a strong asset.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 4,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are also part of the remuneration structure.
