Job Overview
The Data Center Sustainability Analyst will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring sustainability strategies that reduce the environmental impact of AWS’s data center operations in Kiryandongo. The analyst will work closely with engineering, facilities, and corporate sustainability teams to ensure compliance with local regulations and global best practices. This position plays a pivotal role in advancing AWS’s carbon‑neutral goals and enhancing the company’s reputation as a responsible employer in Uganda. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive energy audits and carbon footprint assessments for data center facilities.
- Develop and implement energy efficiency projects, including advanced cooling systems and renewable energy integration.
- Monitor real‑time energy consumption using IoT sensors and analytics platforms.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to design sustainable infrastructure upgrades.
- Prepare sustainability reports for internal stakeholders and external regulators.
- Ensure compliance with Uganda’s environmental regulations and international standards such as ISO 14001.
- Lead employee awareness programs on sustainability best practices.
- Support the procurement of green certifications and third‑party audits.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Python, R, Power BI).
- In‑depth knowledge of energy management, renewable energy technologies, and carbon accounting.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience with sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, CDP).
- Ability to work cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced technology environment.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Energy Management, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as LEED, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or ISO 14001 Lead Auditor are highly desirable.
Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of experience in sustainability, energy efficiency, or environmental compliance within data center, telecom, or large‑scale IT infrastructure settings. Prior experience in a multinational technology firm is an advantage.
Salary
The competitive salary range for this role is SSP 3,500,000 to SSP 5,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be offered.
