Job Overview
As a Digital Accessibility Consultant, you will lead efforts to design, implement, and evaluate digital platforms that comply with international accessibility standards. This role is critical to Google’s mission to create inclusive technology that serves everyone, regardless of ability.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct accessibility audits of web and mobile applications using WCAG 2.1 standards
- Develop and implement accessibility guidelines for software development teams
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers to integrate inclusive design principles
- Train developers on accessibility best practices and remediation techniques
- Partner with NGOs and government agencies to identify community-specific accessibility needs
Required Skills
- Expertise in accessibility standards (WCAG, Section 508)
- Proficiency in screen reader software and assistive technologies
- Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for accessibility implementation
- Experience with automated accessibility testing tools (e.g., axe, WAVE)
- Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Master’s Degree preferred but not required
Experience
- 3-5 years in digital accessibility consulting or similar roles
- Proven track record in implementing accessibility solutions
Salary
1,500,000 – 2,500,000 SSP per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
