With a focus on empowering underrepresented voices, RFI seeks a dynamic Digital Media Engagement Specialist to lead its efforts in Lira, a key hub for cultural and technological innovation in northern Uganda.

Job Overview

This role is central to RFI’s mission to bridge traditional and digital media ecosystems. The specialist will design and implement strategies to amplify local narratives through interactive digital platforms, ensuring content resonates with both regional and international audiences. The position emphasizes collaboration with grassroots organizations, leveraging emerging technologies to democratize media access.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute digital media campaigns that highlight Ugandan cultural heritage and contemporary social issues.
  • Collaborate with local journalists, artists, and community leaders to co-create multimedia content (video, podcasts, social media).
  • Analyze audience engagement metrics to optimize content distribution and platform performance.
  • Provide training workshops for local media professionals on digital storytelling tools and ethical content creation.
  • Coordinate with RFI’s global team to integrate Lira-based projects into international programming.

Required Skills

  • Expertise in digital content creation (editing software, SEO, analytics platforms).
  • Strong understanding of Ugandan socio-cultural dynamics and regional media challenges.
  • Fluency in English and Luganda; knowledge of French is a plus.
  • li>Proven ability to manage cross-cultural teams and foster inclusive collaboration.

  • Experience with grant-funded projects and donor reporting standards.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Media Studies, Communications, or related field. Advanced certifications in digital media production or community engagement are advantageous.

Experience

3-5 years of professional experience in digital media, preferably with NGOs or international organizations operating in East Africa.

Salary

5,000,000 – 8,000,000 SSP annually, commensurate with experience.
