🚛 Job Overview

The Export Transport Coordinator will be responsible for managing export truck planning, transporter coordination, shipment tracking, and compliance for international freight operations.

This role ensures smooth execution of export logistics from Uganda to regional ports, maintaining efficiency, cost control, and timely delivery.

🔑 Key Responsibilities

🚚 1. Export Planning & Transport Coordination

  • Plan daily export truck requirements based on shipment volumes
  • Ensure availability of transport capacity for export operations
  • Coordinate with transport teams for efficient load planning

🧾 2. Transporter Management

  • Identify, onboard, and allocate reliable transporters
  • Ensure transporters are properly vetted and contractually compliant
  • Maintain strong relationships with fleet operators and logistics partners

📦 3. Truck Movement & Export Execution

  • Coordinate truck positioning for loading and port delivery
  • Monitor vehicles from loading points to final port gate-in
  • Ensure timely execution of export shipment schedules

📊 4. Tracking & Reporting

  • Track truck movements, loading status, and transit progress
  • Prepare daily export logistics and transport reports
  • Share updates with management and operational teams

📉 5. Market & Rate Monitoring

  • Monitor transport market rates and capacity trends
  • Track fuel price changes and competitor activity
  • Provide insights for cost-effective logistics planning

🤝 6. Relationship & Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong relationships with transporters and drivers
  • Ensure smooth communication across logistics stakeholders
  • Maintain long-term operational partnerships

⚠️ 7. Problem Solving & Escalation

  • Identify operational delays and transport bottlenecks
  • Provide solutions to minimize export disruptions
  • Escalate critical issues in a timely manner

🎓 Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Transport Management, or related field
  • Postgraduate qualification is an added advantage

💼 Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years in logistics, transport coordination, or freight forwarding
  • Strong experience in export logistics and truck coordination required
  • Experience in cross-border transport (Uganda to regional ports) is an advantage

🧠 Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of transport planning and export operations
  • Understanding of port procedures and transit documentation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for reporting and tracking
  • Experience with ERP or logistics systems (advantage)

📈 Commercial Knowledge

  • Understanding of transport market rates and pricing trends
  • Ability to support cost control and negotiation processes
  • Awareness of fuel pricing and logistics market dynamics

🤝 Soft Skills

  • Strong coordination and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship management
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in reporting
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
