Job Overview

The Geophysics Specialist will lead the design, execution, and interpretation of geophysical surveys that underpin mineral exploration programs across the Fort Portal district. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, the specialist will translate complex subsurface data into actionable geological models, guiding drilling decisions and resource estimation. Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute 2D and 3D geophysical surveys, including magnetic, gravity, EM, and seismic methods.
• Process raw geophysical data using industry‑standard software (e.g., Geosoft, Oasis montaj) to produce high‑resolution subsurface models.
• Integrate geophysical results with geological, geochemical, and drilling data to generate comprehensive exploration targets.
• Prepare technical reports, maps, and presentations for senior management, investors, and regulatory bodies.
• Mentor junior geophysicists and field technicians, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
• Collaborate with environmental and community liaison teams to ensure surveys are conducted responsibly and in line with local regulations.
• Stay abreast of emerging geophysical technologies and recommend innovative approaches to improve survey efficiency.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in geophysical data acquisition, processing, and interpretation.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex datasets into clear geological insights.
• Experience with GIS and 3D modeling software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report preparation and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to work in remote field conditions and manage logistics effectively.

Education

A Master’s degree in Geophysics, Earth Sciences, or a closely related discipline is required. Candidates with a Ph.D. or additional certifications in advanced geophysical methods are highly regarded.

Experience

Minimum of five years of hands‑on experience conducting geophysical surveys in mining or mineral exploration contexts. Prior experience in the East African region or similar geological settings is advantageous.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of UGX 3,000,000 to UGX 5,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances for fieldwork are also part of the compensation package.
