Job Overview

The IoT Solutions Engineer will design, develop, and deploy end‑to‑end IoT platforms that enable real‑time monitoring, data analytics, and automation for Schneider Electric’s customers in Uganda and the wider East African market. Key Responsibilities

• Design and architect IoT solutions that integrate sensors, edge devices, cloud platforms, and analytics tools.
• Collaborate with customers to gather functional and technical requirements, ensuring solutions meet business objectives.
• Develop proof‑of‑concept prototypes and conduct feasibility studies for new IoT use cases.
• Implement secure communication protocols and data encryption to protect sensitive information.
• Configure and program edge gateways, microcontrollers, and industrial IoT devices.
• Integrate Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure platform with third‑party systems and APIs.
• Perform system testing, validation, and performance tuning to guarantee reliability and scalability.
• Provide technical support during deployment, commissioning, and post‑implementation phases.
• Document solution architecture, configuration settings, and best‑practice guidelines.
• Stay updated on emerging IoT trends, standards, and technologies to drive continuous improvement.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of IoT protocols (MQTT, CoAP, LwM2M) and networking concepts.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C/C++, or JavaScript.
• Experience with cloud services (AWS IoT, Azure IoT Hub, Google Cloud IoT) and data analytics platforms.
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles applied to IoT environments.
• Familiarity with industrial automation standards (OPC-UA, Modbus, IEC 61850).
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and analytical thinking.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Project management experience with Agile or Scrum methodologies.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in IoT, cloud platforms, or cybersecurity are considered a strong advantage.

Experience

Applicants should have 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience designing and implementing IoT solutions in industrial or commercial settings. Prior exposure to Schneider Electric products or similar energy‑management systems is highly desirable.

Salary
