Job Overview

The Network Optimization Analyst will play a critical role in enhancing the performance, reliability, and efficiency of MTN Uganda’s radio access network (RAN) in the Kisoro region. Reporting to the Network Operations Manager, you will analyze network data, identify optimization opportunities, and implement corrective actions to ensure optimal service quality for customers. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as drop call rate, throughput, latency, and handover success across the Kisoro RAN.
• Identify network bottlenecks, coverage gaps, and capacity constraints using drive‑test data, OSS/BSS tools, and third‑party analytics platforms.
• Develop and execute optimization plans, including parameter tuning, antenna re‑tilting, and load balancing, to improve service quality.
• Collaborate with RF engineers, field technicians, and vendor partners to implement optimization actions and verify results.
• Participate in network planning meetings, providing data‑driven insights for new site deployments, 4G/5G expansion, and technology migrations.
• Maintain detailed documentation of optimization activities, outcomes, and best practices for future reference.
• Support incident response by quickly diagnosing performance‑related issues and recommending remedial measures.
• Contribute to the development of automated monitoring scripts and dashboards to streamline performance tracking.

Required Skills

• Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, and network performance software (e.g., TEMS, Nemo).
• In‑depth knowledge of LTE/4G radio principles, network architecture, and optimization techniques.
• Experience with drive‑test equipment, RF planning tools, and performance monitoring platforms.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet service level agreements.
• Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration and stakeholder reporting.
• Attention to detail and a proactive mindset toward continuous improvement.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Cisco CCNA, Nokia NRS, or Ericsson NRS are advantageous but not mandatory.

Experience

Applicants should have 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in network performance analysis, optimization, or a similar role within a telecom environment. Experience with rural or challenging terrain networks is a plus, given Kisoro’s unique topography.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of UGX 2,500,000 to UGX 3,500,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be provided.
