Job Overview

We are seeking an analytical Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) Operations Manager to oversee customer repayment performance and operational efficiency. You will design and execute strategies to maintain healthy credit portfolios while expanding our market reach. Leading a dedicated team, you will analyze payment behavior, mitigate credit risks, and optimize customer engagement. Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate PAYG operational strategies to minimize credit risk and optimize repayment rates.
  • Analyze customer payment trends and operational data to improve portfolio health.
  • Lead, mentor, and support a high-performing team of operations and credit specialists.
  • Collaborate with product and sales teams to align credit policies with customer acquisition.
  • Monitor operational KPIs, including portfolio-at-risk (PAR) and collection efficiency.

Required Skills

  • Strong quantitative skills with proficiency in data analysis tools like SQL or Excel.
  • Proven leadership capabilities in managing remote or field-based teams.
  • Deep understanding of mobile money ecosystems and PAYG business models.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a highly customer-centric mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Education

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related field. Professional certifications in credit risk management or project management are highly desirable and will be considered an added advantage.

Experience

A minimum of five years of experience in operations management, credit risk, or microfinance is required. Prior experience in the pay-as-you-go (PAYG) solar industry or telecom sector in East Africa is strongly preferred.
