Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Veterinary Medicine Specialist to join our clinical team in Mbarara. This role is critical for our expansion into the Western Region of Uganda, focusing on providing advanced diagnostic services, disease prevention strategies, and therapeutic interventions for both livestock and companion animals. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive clinical examinations and diagnostic assessments for diverse animal species.
  • Develop and implement disease prevention and control programs for large-scale livestock operations.
  • Provide technical support and training to local veterinary practitioners and farm managers.
  • Collaborate with the research and development team to pilot new pharmaceutical products in the field.
  • Monitor and report on regional animal health trends to inform company strategy.
  • Ensure all veterinary practices comply with national and international animal welfare standards.

Required Skills

  • Advanced diagnostic and surgical skills in veterinary medicine.
  • Deep understanding of zoonotic diseases and their impact on public health.
  • Strong communication skills for engaging with both rural farmers and corporate stakeholders.
  • Analytical thinking for interpreting complex laboratory and clinical data.
  • Proficiency in livestock management and nutritional optimization.

Education

A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from a recognized university is mandatory. Post-graduate specialization in large animal medicine or epidemiology is highly preferred.

Experience

A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in a veterinary setting is required. Proven experience in field-based livestock management or public health veterinary services is a significant advantage. Candidates should have a track record of managing complex animal health cases and implementing large-scale vaccination programs.

Salary

The monthly gross salary ranges from 4,500,000 SSP to 7,500,000 SSP, depending on the candidate’s expertise and clinical specialization.
