Job Overview

This role is part of CARE International’s mission to expand access to education and economic opportunities in rural Uganda. The Community Development Program Manager will lead initiatives to strengthen local governance, improve access to clean water, and promote youth entrepreneurship. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and manage community development programs focused on education, health, and economic empowerment.
  • Coordinate with local stakeholders to identify community needs and prioritize interventions.
  • Monitor program performance using data-driven metrics and report to donors and partners.
  • Lead training sessions for community leaders on project management and sustainability practices.
  • Ensure compliance with CARE’s policies and international development standards.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in community development or international development projects.
  • Strong leadership and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and donor reporting systems.
  • Ability to work in remote, resource-limited environments.
  • Fluency in English and local languages (Runyankore preferred).

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Public Administration, or related field.
  • Master’s degree in Development Studies or Public Policy is an advantage.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in community development, with a focus on rural Uganda.
  • Previous experience managing donor-funded programs (e.g., USAID, EU).

Salary

3,500,000 – 4,500,000 SSP annually, with performance-based incentives.
