Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Conservation Specialist to join our team in Hoima, Uganda. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing conservation projects in the region, working closely with local communities, governments, and other stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental conservation, with experience in project management, community engagement, and stakeholder relations. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The position will be based in Hoima, with frequent travel to project sites in the region. The successful candidate will be required to work independently, with minimal supervision, and to make decisions in a timely and effective manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement conservation projects in the region, in collaboration with local communities, governments, and other stakeholders.
• Conduct field assessments and monitoring to evaluate the effectiveness of conservation projects.
• Build and maintain relationships with local communities, governments, and other stakeholders to ensure effective project implementation.
• Develop and manage project budgets, in collaboration with the finance team.
• Prepare and submit project reports to donors and other stakeholders, as required.

Required Skills

• Strong background in environmental conservation, with experience in project management, community engagement, and stakeholder relations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and to make decisions in a timely and effective manner.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex data and make informed decisions.
• Ability to work in a team environment, with a focus on collaboration and mutual respect.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field.

Experience

5-7 years of experience in environmental conservation, with a focus on project management, community engagement, and stakeholder relations.

Salary

5,000,000 – 8,000,000 SSP per annum.
