Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Conservation Specialist to join our team in Jinja, Uganda. The successful candidate will work closely with our conservation team to develop and implement conservation projects that benefit local communities and the environment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental conservation, with experience in project management, community engagement, and stakeholder coordination. They will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The position is based in Jinja, Uganda, and the successful candidate will be required to travel frequently to project sites throughout the country.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement conservation projects that benefit local communities and the environment
- Work closely with our conservation team to design and implement project activities
- Coordinate with local communities, governments, and other stakeholders to achieve project goals
- Monitor and evaluate project progress, and make recommendations for improvement
- Develop and manage project budgets, and ensure effective use of resources
Required Skills
- Strong background in environmental conservation, with experience in project management, community engagement, and stakeholder coordination
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to travel frequently to project sites throughout the country
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to think critically and creatively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with ability to learn new software and systems quickly
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field
Experience
5-7 years of experience in environmental conservation, with a strong background in project management, community engagement, and stakeholder coordination
Salary
5,000,000 – 7,000,000 SSP per annum
