Job Overview

The Risk Management Analyst will play a pivotal role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating credit and market risks associated with the bank’s loan portfolio and investment activities. Reporting to the Head of Risk Management, the analyst will collaborate closely with credit officers, product managers, and senior leadership to develop robust risk frameworks, conduct quantitative analyses, and provide actionable insights that drive sound decision‑making. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive credit risk assessments for new and existing loan proposals, including financial statement analysis, cash flow modeling, and industry trend evaluation.
  • Develop and maintain risk rating models, scorecards, and stress‑testing scenarios to forecast portfolio performance under adverse economic conditions.
  • Monitor key risk indicators (KRIs) and generate regular risk dashboards for senior management, highlighting emerging risk trends and potential exposures.
  • Collaborate with the Credit Department to ensure adherence to the bank’s credit policies, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare detailed risk reports, presentations, and recommendations for the Risk Committee and Board of Directors.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of risk mitigation strategies, including collateral management, loan restructuring, and hedging solutions.
  • Stay abreast of local and international regulatory developments, such as Basel III, and incorporate relevant changes into the bank’s risk framework.
  • Support the development of risk‑aware culture through training sessions, workshops, and knowledge‑sharing initiatives across business units.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in financial modeling, statistical analysis, and risk‑assessment tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of banking regulations, credit risk standards, and Basel III guidelines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex risk concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in risk management software (e.g., SAS, R, Python) and MS Excel, including VBA and Power Query.
  • Attention to detail, high level of accuracy, and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Team‑player mindset with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams and drive consensus.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager) or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

The ideal candidate will have 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in credit risk analysis, risk modeling, or a similar role within a commercial bank, financial institution, or reputable consultancy. Experience with loan portfolio monitoring, stress testing, and regulatory reporting is essential. Prior exposure to the Ugandan banking environment or East African markets will be viewed favorably.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 3,000,000 to SSP 5,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and performance. The package includes a performance‑based bonus, health insurance, pension contributions, and other statutory benefits.
