Job Overview
The Pharmaceutical Sales Representative will be responsible for promoting Novartis’ portfolio of prescription medicines to healthcare professionals, hospitals, and clinics across Kampala and surrounding districts. This role involves building strong relationships with doctors, pharmacists, and key opinion leaders, delivering product knowledge, and driving sales growth in line with corporate targets. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute territory sales plans to achieve and exceed quarterly and annual targets.
- Engage healthcare professionals through face‑to‑face meetings, product presentations, and scientific discussions.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Novartis product portfolio, therapeutic areas, and competitive landscape.
- Collect and report market intelligence, prescribing trends, and feedback to the regional sales manager.
- Ensure compliance with Uganda Medicines and Allied Substances Control Act and company ethical standards.
- Participate in medical conferences, workshops, and continuous medical education events.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including marketing, medical affairs, and supply chain to optimize product availability.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Strong negotiation and relationship‑building skills.
- Proven ability to analyze sales data and market trends.
- High level of self‑motivation, resilience, and goal orientation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM tools.
- Fluency in English and at least one local language (e.g., Luganda).
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in sales or medical marketing are advantageous.
Experience
Candidates should have 2‑4 years of proven experience in pharmaceutical or medical device sales, preferably within the Ugandan market. Experience with chronic disease therapies or vaccines is a plus.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 4,000,000 annually, commensurate with experience and performance. The package includes performance‑based incentives, health insurance, and a pension scheme.
