Job Overview
The Food Processing Plant Operations Manager will lead the day‑to‑day operations of Mara Group’s Ntungamo processing plant, ensuring production efficiency, product quality, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, the manager will oversee a multidisciplinary team, manage resources, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and supervise daily production activities to meet volume targets and quality specifications.
- Implement and monitor HACCP, ISO 22000, and local food safety regulations to ensure compliance.
- Lead a team of supervisors, technicians, and operators, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and high performance.
- Optimize process flows, reduce waste, and improve yield through Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Manage inventory of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods, coordinating with procurement and logistics.
- Prepare and analyze production reports, KPIs, and cost variance analyses for senior management.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance programs and oversee equipment troubleshooting with the engineering team.
- Drive employee training, mentorship, and performance appraisal processes to build a skilled workforce.

Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Food Scientist (CFS) or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt are highly desirable.
Experience
Candidates must have at least five years of progressive experience in food processing operations, with a minimum of two years in a supervisory or managerial role. Experience in large‑scale manufacturing, export‑oriented production, and familiarity with Ugandan food regulatory frameworks will be considered strong assets.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 25,000,000 to SSP 35,000,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, pension contributions, and other statutory benefits.
