Job Overview

The Quality Assurance Manager will lead GSK Uganda’s Quality Assurance (QA) function, ensuring that all pharmaceutical products manufactured and distributed meet the highest standards of safety, efficacy, and regulatory compliance. Reporting directly to the Head of Operations, the manager will oversee a team of QA specialists, coordinate with Production, R&D, and Regulatory Affairs, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the site. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with GMP, ISO 9001, and local regulatory requirements.
• Lead internal and external audits, ensuring timely corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and continuous compliance.
• Oversee release testing, batch record review, and product disposition decisions to guarantee product integrity.
• Collaborate with Production, R&D, and Supply Chain to integrate quality considerations into all stages of product lifecycle.
• Mentor and develop QA staff, fostering a high‑performance team culture focused on accountability and learning.
• Manage supplier qualification, qualification audits, and ongoing supplier performance monitoring.
• Prepare and present quality performance metrics to senior leadership and external regulators.
• Drive continuous improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, and risk‑based approaches.

Required Skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and pharmaceutical regulatory frameworks (USP, WHO, NAFDAC).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven mindset.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across cross‑functional teams.
• Proficiency in quality tools such as CAPA, FMEA, and root cause analysis.
• Leadership experience with the ability to inspire and develop talent.
• Familiarity with electronic batch record systems and quality software platforms.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as CQE, CQA, or Six Sigma Green Belt are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical quality assurance, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Experience in a GMP‑regulated manufacturing environment and exposure to international regulatory inspections are essential.

Salary

The competitive salary range for this role is SSP 3,500,000 to SSP 5,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based incentives, health insurance, and retirement benefits.
