Job Overview
This role focuses on developing AI-driven tools to optimize crop yields, predict pest outbreaks, and improve resource allocation for smallholder farmers in Northern Uganda. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement machine learning models for crop yield prediction and soil health analysis
- Collaborate with agronomists to translate agricultural challenges into AI solutions
- Develop user-friendly dashboards for farmers to access real-time agricultural insights
- Analyze satellite and sensor data to monitor crop conditions and climate patterns
- Conduct field trials to validate AI models and refine algorithms based on feedback
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Python, R, or Julia for data analysis and machine learning
- Experience with AI frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch
- Strong understanding of agricultural systems and crop science
- Expertise in geospatial data analysis using GIS tools
- Excellent communication skills for cross-disciplinary collaboration
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Agricultural Engineering, or related field
- Master’s Degree preferred but not required
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in AI/ML development with agricultural applications
- Proven track record in deploying data-driven solutions in field settings
Salary
4,000,000 – 6,000,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
