Exim Bank is recruiting a CBS Officer to join its Information Technology Department at the Head Office in Kampala, Uganda. Job Description (Key Duties & Responsibilities)

Core Banking System Operations

The CBS Officer will:

  • Execute End-of-Day (EOD) banking processes accurately and within required timelines
  • Ensure integrity and timely distribution of post-EOD reports through designated systems
  • Monitor core banking system performance, including database locks, processing speed, system waits, and user licenses utilization
  • Monitor core banking applications and web servers to ensure uninterrupted banking services

Technical Support & Incident Management

  • Investigate and resolve CBS service desk incidents and technical requests within agreed timelines
  • Troubleshoot banking application issues and escalate technical problems to vendors when necessary
  • Maintain system reliability, security, and uptime to minimize disruptions

System Enhancement & Change Management

  • Support installation, testing, and rollout of system upgrades, patches, enhancements, and new banking products
  • Ensure strict change control procedures for all customizations and modifications within the core banking system
  • Gather business requirements for system improvements and collaborate with internal IT teams to create technical specifications

Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity

  • Support business continuity planning (BCP) and disaster recovery procedures for banking systems
  • Ensure system backup integrity, security, and operational resilience during disruptions

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain updated documentation of:
    • Core banking system operations manuals
    • Technical procedures
    • System modifications and customizations
    • Technical troubleshooting records

Education Requirements

Essential Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in:
    • Computer Science

Experience Requirements

Essential Experience

Candidates should have:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience supporting core banking applications
  • Hands-on experience managing and troubleshooting banking software systems
  • Strong database support experience, preferably:
    • Oracle Databases
    • Microsoft SQL Server Databases

Preferred Technical Experience

  • Linux system administration knowledge
