Job Overview

This role supports WWF Uganda’s mission to conserve Uganda’s rich biodiversity by analyzing ecological data, monitoring wildlife populations, and developing conservation strategies. The position is based in Kisoro, a gateway to Mgahinga National Park, and requires fieldwork in remote conservation areas. Candidates will contribute to projects aligned with Uganda Jobs and global conservation goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct biodiversity assessments and wildlife population monitoring in Kisoro’s conservation areas.
  • Collaborate with local communities to implement habitat restoration initiatives.
  • Analyze ecological data to identify trends and inform conservation policies.
  • Develop educational materials to promote wildlife protection and sustainable land use.
  • Coordinate with government agencies and NGOs on conservation projects.

Required Skills

  • Expertise in biodiversity data collection and GIS mapping tools.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting ecological research.
  • Experience in community engagement and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Proficiency in report writing and grant proposal development.
  • Ability to work in remote field conditions with minimal supervision.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, or Conservation Biology.
  • Master’s Degree preferred but not required.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in biodiversity conservation or environmental analysis.
  • Proven track record in field research and data management.

Salary

3,500,000 – 5,000,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience.
