Job Overview
We are seeking a Brewery Utilities Engineer to oversee and optimize our utility operations at our Jinja brewery. You will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all utility systems, including steam generation, refrigeration, CO2 recovery, water treatment, and compressed air. Your primary objective is to ensure uninterrupted utility supply while driving energy conservation initiatives. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations and maintenance of all utility plant equipment, including boilers, compressors, cooling towers, and water treatment systems.
- Implement and monitor energy and water conservation projects to achieve brewery sustainability targets.
- Lead a team of utility technicians, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, standard operating procedures, and maintenance schedules.
- Analyze utility consumption data and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports for senior management.
- Coordinate with external contractors and service providers for specialized maintenance and equipment overhauls.
- Ensure full compliance with local environmental regulations and international quality standards.
Required Skills
- In-depth knowledge of industrial utility systems, including steam, refrigeration, compressed air, and water treatment.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical faults.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to manage a diverse technical team.
- Commitment to occupational health, safety, and environmental sustainability standards.
Education
Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering from a recognized university.
Experience
A minimum of five years of progressive experience in utility operations within a large-scale manufacturing environment, preferably in FMCG, is required.
