Job Overview
This role focuses on integrating climate adaptation strategies into urban planning frameworks across Uganda. The position is part of WSP’s global initiative to strengthen infrastructure against climate risks while promoting sustainable development. Key Responsibilities
- Develop climate resilience strategies for urban infrastructure projects
- Conduct vulnerability assessments for cities exposed to climate risks
- Collaborate with municipal authorities to update zoning and building codes
- Design flood mitigation and drainage systems for high-risk areas
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders
Required Skills
- Proficiency in GIS mapping and climate modeling software
- Strong understanding of Ugandan urban development policies
- Experience with climate risk assessment methodologies
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
- Ability to analyze socio-economic impacts of climate change
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or related field
- Master’s Degree preferred but not mandatory
Experience
- 3-5 years in urban resilience or climate adaptation projects
- Previous experience in East African urban planning contexts
Salary
800,000 – 1,200,000 SSP/month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
