Job Overview
The Environmental Impact Assessment Specialist will be responsible for conducting environmental impact assessments for WWF’s projects and programs in Uganda. The successful candidate will have a strong background in environmental science and experience in conducting environmental impact assessments.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, and other NGOs.
The position is based in Kabale, Uganda, and the successful candidate will be required to travel frequently to project sites throughout the country.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental impact assessments for WWF’s projects and programs in Uganda
- Develop and implement environmental management plans for WWF’s projects and programs
- Collaborate with local communities, government agencies, and other NGOs to ensure that environmental concerns are addressed
- Provide technical assistance and support to WWF staff and partners on environmental issues
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, and other NGOs
Required Skills
- Master’s degree in Environmental Science or related field
- 8-12 years of experience in environmental impact assessment and management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
Education
The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in Environmental Science or a related field. A Ph.D. in Environmental Science or a related field is an added advantage.
Experience
The successful candidate will have 8-12 years of experience in environmental impact assessment and management. Experience working with local communities, government agencies, and other NGOs is highly desirable.
Salary
The salary for this position is 5,000,000 – 7,000,000 SSP per annum, depending on experience.
