Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Industrial Automation Engineer to join our specialized engineering team in Arua. This role is critical for our expanding manufacturing client base in Northern Uganda. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, programming, and maintaining complex automated systems that drive productivity in local industries. This is a high-impact role that requires a deep understanding of PLC programming, SCADA systems, and industrial robotics.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement complex automation control systems for diverse manufacturing processes.
- Program and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
- Conduct site surveys to assess existing industrial machinery and identify automation opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate robotic arms into existing production lines.
- Perform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs on automated hardware and software.
- Develop technical documentation, including wiring diagrams and system logic flowcharts.
- Ensure all automation installations comply with international safety and quality standards.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens, Rockwell, or Schneider).
- Strong understanding of SCADA and HMI configuration and integration.
- Expertise in industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, and EtherNet/IP.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret intricate electrical schematics and P&IDs.
- Excellent project management and technical reporting skills.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a closely related technical field is mandatory. Professional certification in industrial automation or robotics is highly preferred.
Experience
Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation, specifically within a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment. Proven experience in commissioning new automated systems and managing large-scale electrical installations is essential for success in this role.
Salary
The monthly salary for this position ranges from 4,500,000 SSP to 7,200,000 SSP, depending on the candidate’s technical expertise and previous experience in the field.
