Job Overview
Skanska Uganda is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Project Controls Engineer to lead the planning, monitoring, and reporting of complex construction projects in the Tororo region. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing robust control systems, ensuring accurate cost and schedule performance, and providing strategic insights to senior management. This position plays a critical role in delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, directly contributing to the success of Skanska’s portfolio in Uganda. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project control plans, including cost, schedule, and risk management frameworks.
- Monitor project performance against baseline budgets and timelines, generating regular variance analyses and forecasts.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure accurate data collection and reporting.
- Prepare detailed progress reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Implement earned value management (EVM) techniques to assess project health and predict future performance.
- Identify potential cost overruns or schedule delays early and propose corrective actions.
- Support procurement and contract administration by verifying scope, pricing, and change orders.
- Ensure compliance with Skanska’s safety, quality, and sustainability standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Facilitate regular project control meetings and workshops to align team objectives.
- Maintain project documentation and archives in accordance with corporate governance policies.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in project control software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, and SAP.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Proven problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach to risk mitigation.
- Leadership qualities to guide multidisciplinary teams and drive performance.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
- Knowledge of local construction regulations, standards, and permitting processes in Uganda.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required. Professional certifications such as PMP, PMI‑PMI‑EVM, or equivalent are highly desirable.
Experience
Applicants must have 5‑7 years of hands‑on experience in project controls within large‑scale infrastructure or construction projects. Experience working on international or multi‑national projects is an advantage.
