Job Overview
We are seeking a meticulous and highly analytical Laboratory Quality Control Chemist to join our Jinja production facility. This role is critical in ensuring that every batch of product adheres to strict chemical, physical, and microbiological standards. The successful candidate will perform complex testing, manage laboratory instrumentation, and provide real-time data to the production team to prevent deviations. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and non-routine chemical and microbiological analysis on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
- Operate and calibrate sophisticated laboratory equipment including HPLC, GC, and spectrophotometers.
- Document all test results accurately in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Investigate deviations in product quality and recommend corrective actions to the production department.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 17025 standards and local regulatory requirements for food safety.
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment following strict safety protocols.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in analytical chemistry techniques and laboratory instrumentation.
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in data recording.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret complex chemical data.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with production and supply chain teams.
- Knowledge of HACCP and food safety management systems.
Education
A Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline from a recognized institution is mandatory. Professional certification in Quality Management Systems is an added advantage.
Experience
Candidates must possess a minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in a laboratory setting, preferably within the food, beverage, or pharmaceutical industry. Proven experience with automated testing equipment is essential.
Salary
The monthly gross salary for this position ranges from 4,500,000 SSP to 6,500,000 SSP, depending on experience and qualifications.
