Job Overview

The Wind Energy Project Engineer will lead the technical planning, design, and execution of wind farm projects in the western region of Uganda. This role involves close coordination with cross‑functional teams, including procurement, construction, and operations, to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The engineer will also serve as a technical liaison with local authorities, landowners, and community groups, promoting transparent communication and sustainable development.

This position offers a unique opportunity to shape Uganda’s renewable energy landscape, working on cutting‑edge turbine technology and contributing to national energy independence. The successful candidate will be instrumental in translating feasibility studies into fully operational wind farms, supporting the country’s ambition to increase renewable energy capacity.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed engineering designs, layout plans, and specifications for wind farm installations.
• Conduct site assessments, wind resource analysis, and environmental impact evaluations.
• Coordinate with civil, electrical, and mechanical contractors to align project deliverables.
• Manage procurement of turbine components, ensuring compliance with technical standards.
• Oversee construction activities, perform on‑site inspections, and resolve technical issues.
• Implement quality assurance and health‑safety protocols throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and cost forecasts for senior management.
• Engage with local communities and regulatory bodies to secure permits and foster stakeholder support.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of wind turbine technology, grid integration, and renewable energy standards.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and project management tools.

Education

Experience

Minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in wind farm project engineering, including design, construction, and commissioning phases. Prior experience in East African markets is preferred.
