Job Overview
The Quality Assurance Manager will lead the QA team at the Iganga bottling plant, overseeing all aspects of product quality, safety, and compliance. This role involves developing and implementing robust quality systems, conducting internal audits, and collaborating with production, R&D, and supply chain functions to ensure seamless operations. The manager will also serve as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities and external auditors, guaranteeing that all processes adhere to national and international standards. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality management systems (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001, HACCP, and local regulations.
- Lead internal and external audits, ensuring corrective actions are identified, tracked, and resolved promptly.
- Monitor critical control points throughout production, conducting routine inspections and sampling to verify product conformity.
- Collaborate with R&D and production teams to validate new product formulations and process changes.
- Prepare and submit regulatory filings, ensuring compliance with Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) and other relevant bodies.
- Analyze quality data, generate performance reports, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor and train QA staff, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
Required Skills
- In‑depth knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP, ISO 9001, and GMP.
- Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) tools.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements effectively.
- Advanced problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach to risk mitigation.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or HACCP Practitioner are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of five years of progressive experience in quality assurance within the food and beverage manufacturing sector. Prior experience managing cross‑functional teams and leading audit processes is essential.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 3,500,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based incentives and comprehensive benefits.
