Job Overview
The Digital Payments Product Manager will lead the end‑to‑end lifecycle of Ecobank’s digital payment products, including mobile wallets, QR‑code payments, and API‑based solutions for merchants. Reporting to the Head of Digital Banking, the manager will define product strategy, prioritize features, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver seamless, secure, and user‑centric experiences. This position is central to Ecobank’s ambition to become the preferred digital payments provider in Uganda, driving adoption, revenue growth, and regulatory compliance. The role offers a unique platform to influence the financial landscape, making it a highly visible and impactful position within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive product roadmap for digital payments, aligning with market trends and customer needs.
- Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and user testing to identify opportunities for innovation.
- Collaborate with engineering, design, risk, compliance, and marketing teams to deliver product features on time and within budget.
- Define product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria, ensuring clear communication across stakeholders.
- Monitor product performance metrics, analyze data, and implement iterative improvements to enhance user experience and profitability.
- Manage relationships with fintech partners, payment processors, and regulatory bodies to ensure seamless integration and compliance.
- Lead go‑to‑market strategies, including launch planning, promotional campaigns, and training for sales and support teams.
- Prepare regular reports for senior leadership, highlighting progress, challenges, and strategic recommendations.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of digital payments ecosystems, fintech trends, and regulatory frameworks in Uganda.
- Proven product management experience, preferably in banking or financial services.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Leadership mindset with a collaborative, cross‑functional approach.
- Proficiency in Agile methodologies and product management tools.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, results‑driven environment.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner, PMP) are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage.
Experience
Minimum of five years of experience in product management, with at least three years focused on digital payments or fintech solutions. Experience within a regulated banking environment in Uganda or the broader East African region is preferred.
Salary
The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary ranging from SSP 4,000,000 to SSP 6,000,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are also part of the remuneration package.
