Job Overview

The Clinical Trial Monitoring Specialist will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity, safety, and compliance of clinical studies conducted across Uganda. Reporting to the Clinical Operations Manager, the specialist will oversee site monitoring activities, verify data accuracy, and ensure adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular on‑site monitoring visits to assess protocol compliance, patient safety, and data quality.
• Prepare detailed monitoring reports, highlighting deviations, corrective actions, and recommendations.
• Collaborate with investigators and study staff to resolve queries and ensure timely data entry.
• Verify source documents against case report forms (CRFs) and electronic data capture (EDC) systems.
• Ensure all trial activities comply with local regulatory requirements and GCP standards.
• Assist in the preparation of regulatory submissions and audit readiness activities.
• Participate in risk‑based monitoring strategies to optimize resource allocation.
• Provide training and mentorship to site staff on monitoring processes and documentation.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of GCP, ICH guidelines, and local regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for interaction with diverse stakeholders.
• Proficiency in electronic data capture (EDC) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple studies simultaneously.
• Ability to travel across Uganda, including remote sites.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Nursing, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CCRA, ACRP) are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in clinical trial monitoring, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sectors. Experience with multi‑center studies in low‑ and middle‑income countries is a strong plus.

Salary

The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary ranging from SSP 3,000,000 to SSP 5,000,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses and comprehensive benefits.
