Job Overview

Yara International Uganda Limited is seeking a dynamic Agri-Food Supply Chain Optimization Specialist to drive efficiency and sustainability in agricultural value chains. This role will focus on integrating digital tools with traditional supply chain practices to reduce post-harvest losses, improve market access, and ensure equitable distribution of resources. The position is based in Kaberamaido, a key agricultural hub in Uganda, and offers opportunities to contribute to national food security goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement data-driven strategies to optimize agri-food supply chains from farm to market.
  • Collaborate with farmers, cooperatives, and logistics partners to identify bottlenecks and propose scalable solutions.
  • Utilize AI-powered analytics tools to forecast demand, monitor inventory, and reduce waste in perishable agricultural commodities.
  • Develop partnerships with local and international stakeholders to enhance cold storage infrastructure and transportation networks.
  • Conduct training sessions for farmers on best practices in supply chain management and digital platform usage.
  • Monitor and report on KPIs such as cost reduction, delivery efficiency, and carbon footprint reduction.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in supply chain optimization within the agricultural sector.
  • Proficiency in supply chain software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong understanding of Ugandan agri-food systems, including challenges in smallholder farming.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on sustainability.
  • Fluency in both English and local languages (Lugbara, Lunda, etc.) is an advantage.
  • Ability to work in remote rural environments and adapt to dynamic field conditions.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Economics, Supply Chain Management, or related field. Advanced degrees (Master’s in Agribusiness or MBA) are a plus.

Experience

3-5 years of experience in agricultural supply chain management, preferably with exposure to digital transformation projects in emerging markets.

Salary

1,500,000 – 2,500,000 SSP per month, depending on experience and performance.
